Building of our project

First, we have the bin that will serve as a basis structure to fix the different components used.

We started by fixing the ultrasonic sensor under the lid of the bin. This one will measure the filling level of the bin. To fix it on the bin, we used what was originally a screw box in which a first hole was made to let the sensor take its measurements and a second one to let the sensor connection cables pass through the box.

Then, a small metal piece in "L" shape was attached to the edge of the cover bracket. It is the stop of the servomotor and thus it prevents the lid of the bin from opening at an excessive angle.

The servomotor was then stuck under the bin lid, making sure that the rotation axes of the servomotor and the bin lid are on the same axis.

After that, we manufactured a custom-made wooden box that will contain the Raspberry Pi and which will also allow the motion sensor to be held as shown in the picture. Once the box built, it has been painted in order to match with the colour of the bin.

The next element was the manufacture of the LED bar. For this one, we used an electric duct in which holes are drilled to allow the LEDs to be installed. The LED bar has also been painted. When everything is ready, the LEDs are installed in the duct and the electrical connection are made.

Finally, we attached the box and the LED bar to the front of our bin .

Regarding
the load sensors, they have been ordered and sent but we still have not
received them yet which means that we have not yet been able to install them.
